Acme 1:18 Scale #65 1965 Shelby GT350R - Terlingua Tribute Diecast Replica. On a scalding May afternoon, it’s not easy to see how Carroll Shelby saw dollar signs between the stubby cacti nestled among the yellow rocks. Summer arrives earlier in West Texas than anywhere else in the U.S. The only answer has to be the simplest one: Shelby loved it here, out in the wild, far from anyone that could tell him what to do, or watch as he did exactly what he wanted.
The group slapped the rabbit logo onto a Mustang-based Shelby GT350-R in 1965 before a race near Dallas. It was a harbinger of things to come and it marked the beginning of the half-serious, half tongue-in-cheek Terlingua Racing Team. For old school Terlingua Racing Team fans, Shelby Automobiles and Bill Neale introduced the 1967 Terlingua continuation model Mustang that is revamped with modern technology. On the exterior the car looks like the vintage 1967 Trans-Am race car driven by Jerry Titus and Ken Miles.
